GUSH x Celine Manning

At just 22 years old, Celine Kadian Manning says she knows what’s what when it comes to sexuality—so much so that she’s ready to share her voice with the world. Using colorful language and seated in front of a pink-lit background, the Florida-based vlogger sounds off about everything from kinks to sexually transmitted infections.

Here, Celine discusses why she decided to take the leap into sex education so publicly and what she sees happening next.

OHNAAHNAAH: How would you describe what you do?

Celine Manning: I spread healthy conversations surrounding taboo topics about sex and sexuality that affects us on a daily basis. I create sex educational videos on my social media platforms. I am a speaker and an educator through workshops where I promote sexual health, sexual confidence, sexploration.

My goal is to make my audience feel like I am their big sister that they never knew they wanted or needed.

O: I've stalked your social media a bit, and it seems like you made the decision to promote sex positivity publicly on your pages just this year. What prompted the change?

CM: My sexual side has always been repressed because many individuals still view this topic as something shameful. Although I do not attach shame to sex, it is still nerve racking to be different when everyone (including your family) is watching you. I had to muster up a lot of courage to be able to publicly promote sex positivity and I am having so much fun with it.

O: What's the best advice you've received about heading into the sex and dating space? Who are some people that inspire you?

CM: The best advice I received relating to the sex and dating space is “purpose over perfect.” I did not know how I wanted to deliver my message, but staying true to myself through my witty personality is the foundation to delivering my message.

Some people who inspire me are Shannon Boodram, Tyomi Morgan-Najieb, Emily Morse, Kelly Grove, and Nerissa Nefeteri. Their willingness to shamelessly share themselves with the world is so refreshing you can not help but be inspired.

O: Have you faced any challenges getting started?

CM: Being hyper-sexualized by men. They see you talking about sex everyday and now its open territory for unsolicited penis pictures and the occasional “you must be a freak” DM.

Oh, and boy oh boy did I lose some followers! I realized not many people are open to sex humor and sex education and that is okay!  I mean, it can be very discouraging when you know your purpose is to benefit the world in a positive way. I have to accept that I am doing something very different and people may not be receptive to it. But sex has been around forever and there still so much to learn ! I am ready to teach !

O: What can your followers and subscribers look forward to in the future? What's the big goal?

CM: I expect to release my podcast in 2020. My podcast will be focused on real and raw conversations about sex, relationships, community, and everything in between. My ultimate goal is to host conventions all over the world, educating people about sex and the ways in which pleasure and fun should be included in sex for everyone involved.
